May 4th National Day of Prayer

The 66th Annual National Day of Prayer, held on the first Thursday in May, will fall on May 4th 2017.  In keeping with our command to pray:  Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-4   We will have a PRAYER SERVICE at 7:00pm.  We will not have Bible Study that day.  Our Pastor asks us to join together that day, as one body, to pray.

Thursday Bible Study Continues

This has been a well received time of studying God’s word with our Pastor, in her home.  With the convenience of 3 times to attend: 9:ooam, 1:30pm, or 7:00pm it seems that everyone is able to commit to digging deeper into the Bible.  We are currently learning more about God instituting the Passover and how Jesus became our Passover Lamb.  The informal setting around Pastor Cathy and Jim’s dinner table, a variety of teas and coffees available, and studying with friends from church invite us to draw closer as a church body.  Mark your calendar for each Thursday until Summer and please consider bringing a friend along.

Holiday Services

HOLY THURSDAY: We will be having a COMMUNION SERVICE at 7:00pm (No Bible Study that day)

Healing Service

We will have a HEALING SERVICE this Sunday March 26th during our Sunday Morning Service.  Come with your needs and prepare to surrender unto The Lord.  “13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses[a] to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” -James 13-16

Daylight Savings Tips

Get started early in the week:

  • To minimize the impact of the switch to daylight saving time, make gradual adjustments. Go to bed 15 minutes early, starting several days before the change.
  • Around midday, get some vigorous exercise.  Exercise helps advance the body clock, just as bright light exposure does.
  • Don’t exercise too late in the day. Exercise raises your body temperature.  People get sleepy as their body temperature goes down, not when it’s elevated.
  • Don’t eat a heavy meal before bedtime.
  • Don’t drink a lot of caffeine or alcohol.
  • Don’t nap during the day, or at least keep it brief — 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Stop working on any task or electronics an hour before bedtime to calm down.
  • Don’t discuss emotional issues at bedtime.
  • Create a bedtime ritual that is relaxing. Experts recommend reading a book, listening to soothing music, or soaking in a hot bath or shower.
  • Make sure your sleep environment is comfortable, cool, quiet and free of distraction for the best possible sleep.
  • Don’t turn lights on at night. Use a small night-light instead.
  • Set your clocks back before you go to bed so you wake to the correct time.
  • Most cellphones advance time automatically.
